Jerry was my first friend in the 1st grade. We sat at the same two person table. Ms Malar was the teacher. We had 1st 2nd and 3rd grade in the same classroom at Soda Canyon School. So sorry that Jerry is not with us anymore. I often thought of him. So long my friend.

I have really good memories when we were both student body officers at Silverado Junior High. I wasn't part of his group of friends, as most of the other ASB officers were, but he was  always very sweet to me. I am so surprised and sorry he has passed away.

Mr. President......little big man......Alexander the Great.....Jerry, I will definately miss you not being at the reunion. That sparkle in your eyes and the sly little grin. You were the consumate politician. I remember when I first met you at Silverado. I thought to myself, Snap, Crackle and Pop have another brother. Who knew? I also thought, at least there is one guy at this school that is shorter than me, but I soon found out you were a great guy with a big heart. By the time we were at Napa High, I really thought that some day I would see the country boy become Congressman Alexander. Life is an interesting journey and decisions at pivotal moments make all the difference in how it turns out. I was told by some one who was there that Greg, Vic and you left for college the same day and you were still undecided where you were going to go. When you got to the fork in the road, Greg and Vic turned south to go to Arizona and they saw you in their review mirrors turn north to go to Nevada Reno. I think you made a very fortunate decision at that moment and you life took a very different path. Your life was too short. RIP Jerry.

Jerry was such a great guy. And he was my friend. It would probably be hard to find anyone who didn't like him. This is a picture of us at baccalaureate. I think it was tradition for the girls to ask the guys out for after the ceremony, so I asked Jerry. We went to the Spinnaker in Sausalito. In 1968, there was a group of  us who lived up at Tahoe, part of the time in an abandoned ski lodge called the Rockwood Lodge: Jerry, Lisa Wolfe, Bruce Heckard, Mike Clark, Robin Dennett, and a lot of regular visitors from Napa. It was kind of like a hippie version of Friends. We were all feelin' our oats and finding our way. I have wonderful memories of Jerry during that time. When I think about him now, I remember the good times but I also wish that I had kept in better touch with him through the years.

Jerry was such a fun loving and generous guy. I remember those visits to Rockwood Lodge at lake Tahoe and Jerry would outfit us, at no charge, with the latest and greatest demo skis from his rental shop at Squaw Valley he owned and operated.  We ususally would get free or discounted lift tickets as I remember...complements of Jerry.  Jerry was an expert skier and he and Mike Clark would float down the deep powder at Squaw...they were fun to watch.  I was fortunate to attend his celebration of life in Napa that spring and catch up with his friends and family. He led a remarkable life although way too short.  I always admired Jerry and treasured his friendship and will fondly remember those fun times at Tahoe with Judy, Robin, Lisa, Bruce, Mike and the rest of the friends at Rockwood Lodge . RIP my friend and you are truly missed.

Jerry Alexander was an extraordinary man.  A great friend with a noble heart, filled with kindness to all. Traveled to more places than any three people I know.  He was able to capture those travels with his magnificent photography one of which I having hanging in my office; Pearl Divers of the Philppines. I remember the time we went water skiing at Lake Barryessa. Greg Borg's father's boat was a beautiful Chris Craft, and I will always remember Jerry solemm skiing, cutting back and forth with his shoulder just inches above the water!  I said to myself a perfect body to mass ratio for a man!  I really felt he could of been Circus Soleil material if so desired. Also the times at Rockwood lodge listening to Crosby Still and Nash, cutting wood and living on bark. Those were the greatest of times with all the gang, and will be forever remembered by this man.  I worked with Jerry directly through the toughest of times and saw a friend who was filled with courage and kindness always. I will miss Jerry Alexander and Mike Clark, always the best of friends and the greatest of times we had together.  I wish I could of done more to help them both.  God Bless you both you will be forever missed and I know your Spirits are together now! R.I.P my brothers.

One moonless night nearly 50 years ago, Jerry and I sat out front of Rockwood Lodge, beneath the stars, milky way dancing above us.  As the young among us do, we were contemplating the universe, meaning of life, what our purpose in being here was, and what became of us after we drew that last breath.  After a long silence, Jerry leaned over to me and whispered,"Stardust...we go back to being stardust."

50 years later, 50 years of weighing and measuring the same profound questions, I have arrived full circle to Jerry's heartfelt and insightful conclusion.  Perhaps he was right, and if he was, then let's look up on the next moonless night to greet dear friends gone before us.

Here are a couple of Pictures of Jerry Alexander when Jerry, Lisa Wolf and I were working together at Alpine Meadows during the Winter of 1969/70. He was competing doing front rolls on Shortie Skis. His size was perfect for competiion. Carol Douglas and I had moved up to Reno to attend University of Nevada. Carol had an apartment with Lisa, Jerry lived with some Crazy Guys from Santa Cruz, and I rented a room (although I was hardly ever there north of Reno. Lisa, Jerry and I had great times working at the Rental Shop for 2 winters. We rented a cabin in Homewood with 15 others which was always full of friends. Some of the people worked at Alpine and some worked a Squaw Valley so we were all able to Ski for Free at either Resort. Jerry was always ready to have a good time but most of all he was a great friend to everyone. He always was a beautifull and gentle soul. We all Loved Him. His Memory will Live On Forever!
