In Memory

Robert Buehler

9/5/48 - 9/22/68 Army PFC Killed in Vietnam, age 20. We honor his service and mourn a life cut short. Think he may have been our first classmate killed in Vietnam...

He is remembered on Panel 12, Sacramento Vietnam Veterans Memorial.

And on Panel 43W/Row 60 of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington, DC.

Posted on his page on the Vietnam Memorial Wall site 7/04..."It is said a man hasn't died as long as he is remembered. This prayer is a way for families, friends and fellow veterans to remember our fallen brothers and sisters. Do not stand at my grave and weep I am not there, I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the diamond glints on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain, I am the gentle autumn rain. When you awaken in the morning hush, I am the swift, uplifting rush of quiet birds in circled flight, I am the stars that shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry, I am not there, I did not die…"

I knew Bob from Silverado, and remember when he went to Vietnam, tragically going way too soon. He was always so nice to me and was one of the last stops on our bus route. Your son has grown to be a nice young man....you'd be proud of him. Thank you for your service, Bob.

I knew Bob during Silverado and High School.  I also ran into him at the Napa JC, must have been late 67 or early 68.  He had just painted his '58 Chevy.  He did a great job.  There was one run.  It was actually in the primer and he painted over it, hoping it wouldn't show.  It showed, and he kicked himself for not sanding it out before the color coat.  It was minor, but it bothered him.  It was perfect, otherwise.  Bob was a great guy; always a friend.
